Eat Like a Champion!
I recently visited the dining hall at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA. The head chef said the most popular athlete recovery item is chocolate milk. It is a wonderful combination of proteins and carbohydrates and tastes great after a workout. My favorite is Horizon Chocolate milk boxes.
Bar Power!
I am frequently asked to recommend nutritious, tasty sports bars and have a hard time offering suggestions! I personally don’t like most bars, but have finally found one worth suggesting. The makers of Clif Bar have designed a snack marketed towards kids called the Z Bar. The Z Bar is a small version of most other bars, but is the perfect size for kids and adults. My personal favorite flavor is chocolate chip, which is delicious with a piece of fruit and yogurt.
Mighty Leaf Tea:
I learned about this delicious tea through my dear friend Denise. The tea is served at many nice restaurants, but can also be purchased at specialty food stores like Whole Foods and online at Might Leaf. My personal favorite is the Decaffeinated Chamomile Citrus. Enjoy a cup as a relaxing way to unwind after a long day.
Love Your Heart!
Give your heart some love this month with easy-to-prepare, tasty whole grains. Brown rice is a heart-friendly whole grain and can be prepared in minutes. Two products I love are Whole Foods 365 Everyday Value Brown Rice Fully Cooked (in the frozen food section) and Minute Ready-to-Serve Brown Rice in single servings. Make a meal out of it by topping with chicken, beans and vegetables.
One of the most comfortable, stylish and versatile athletic brands on the market. Originally designed for yoga, the company has branched out into various sports. The reversible pants are my favorite; they can be worn for athletics or everyday errands.
